Goals & Objectives of Education Offering

PURPOSE OF PRESENTATION:
The course is designed to familiarize the reader with understanding HIPAA Privacy Rule and Part 2 of the Federal Confidentiality Regulations (known as 42 CFR). These changes are mandatory for substance abuse treatment programs and implementation is mandatory.


COURSE CONTENT AND DESCRIPTION:
This course is presented in programmed-learning module that focuses on the specific programs that need to enforce the privacy rule. The training will focus on the language of the new rules and provide direction on implementation of the rules. Additional information relative to patient rights and administrative requirements will be addressed. A pretest will establish a baseline of understanding as well as targeting those areas requiring a refresher or new knowledge. Completion of the programmed workbook will then follow, with a programmed format that enhances the learning and retention process.


EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
1.Counselor will learn and recall the General Rule
2.Counselor will identify situations when certain disclosures are permitted
3. Counselor will understand how the Privacy rule affects disclosures of information
4.Counselor will recall specific patient rights and access
5.Counselor will acknowledge administrative requirements with the rule changes
