PURPOSE OF PRESENTATION:
This home study training will examine common models of patient placement criteria in the area of addiction treatment. Attention will be given to the role place criteria can play in guiding treatment planning, chart documentation, and subsequent discharge planning.

COURSE CONTENT AND DESCRIPTION:
A review of generally accepted dimensional areas will follow with examples of how to structure chart documentation and treatment planning from the identified problems. The use of case examples will illustrate the need for congruency between identified problems, subsequent treatment planning and eventual progress notes. The focus will be on maintaining an addiction-specific focus in drug and alcohol settings.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
1. Counselor will understand how to phrase problem statements using risk elements.
2. Counselor will demonstrate ability to devise salient criteria driven problem statements.
3. Counselor will identify methods to improve criteria-based chart documentation.
4. Counselor will understand the role placement criteria plays in driving treatment.
