Goals & Objectives of Education Offering

PURPOSE OF PRESENTATION:
This training module will provide the experienced and inexperienced addiction professional with a firm understanding of specific withdrawal syndromes associated with varied chemicals and alcohol. Recognizing potentially harmful situations with regard to withdrawal possibilities and understanding the basic courses of treatment will enable the clinician to more accurately assess and appropriately place clients at risk.


COURSE CONTENT AND DESCRIPTION:
This course presents a programmed learning module in the area of drug and alcohol withdrawal and detoxification and is applicable to addiction professionals in both inpatient or outpatient settings. The pretest will identify the knowledge base as well as liabilities and strengths. Completion of the programmed workbook will then follow, presenting a detailed examination of concepts and terms, specific withdrawal syndromes, detoxification protocols, and implications for addiction professionals. The post-test will be the final task for the student and the final grade is reached by achieving a minimum grade of 75 percent.


EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
1. Addiction Professional will recall the major risks associated with withdrawal syndromes
2. Addiction Professional will understand the difference between the various types of withdrawal syndromes
3. Addiction Professional will identify important assessment considerations specific to detoxification and withdrawal issues
4. Addiction Professional will recognize high risk combinations of drugs and alcohol.
