PURPOSE OF PRESENTATION:
This training examines various aspects of professional ethics with the goal of
imparting necessary skills an d knowledges to professional counselors. A review
of professional boundaries and common ethical dilemmas will follow with a
comprehensive examination of risk management and a model to help in making
ethical decisions.
COURSE CONTENT AND DESCRIPTION:
This course is presented in programmed-learning module that addresses Code of
Ethics, Ethical Decision Process , Professional Codes, Professional Boundaries,
Central Themes in Dual Relationships, Boundary Risk Management, Ethics Audit,
and an Ethical Decision Making Model. A pretest will establish a baseline of
understanding as well as targeting those areas requiring a refresher or new
knowledge. Completion of the programmed workbook will then follow, with a
programmed format addressing both treatment and clinical issues surrounding the
processes needed to achieve the highest standard of competency within the
counseling profession.
