PURPOSE OF PRESENTATION:
The course is designed to provide the reader with an understanding of different supervision models and the application of these models to clinical practice. Emphasis is placed on counselor development and heightened awareness of ‘self' by the clinical supervisor. Additional resources provide the reader with opportunities to do a self-assessment.


COURSE CONTENT AND DESCRIPTION:
This course is presented in programmed-learning module that focuses on qualities and traits indigenous to clinical supervisors, as well as providing a theoretical base from which supervisory skills can develop. Completion of the programmed workbook will then follow, with a programmed format addressing both treatment and clinical issues surrounding the processes needed to achieve a better understanding of the supervision process.


EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
1. Counselor will define the qualities of an effective supervisor.
2. Counselor will identify several assumptions of developmental approaches to supervision.
3. Counselor will understand the Stoltenberg/Delworth approach to supervision.
4. Counselor will identify developmental approaches to supervision.
5. Counselor will learn the importance of self assessment for effective supervision.
6. Counselor will recall the three broad approaches to supervision.
